The first festival of its kind to grace the stages of Cornwall's live performance venues, The Falmouth Cringe recently celebrated its second year of success, bringing together dozens of comedians and performance artists in a four-day run of laughter across Falmouth. After noticing the lack of live comedy and fringe theatre within Cornwall's otherwise-flourishing arts scene, co-directors Franciska Earle, Johanna Brooks, and Jules Mahoney developed an annual festival of performances, featuring some huge names in British comedy, an array of Edinburgh Fringe previews, and a host of emerging artists, with the hope of boosting Cornwall's arts scene beyond the limits of live music and gallery exhibitions. Since 2022, the Falmouth Cringe has established itself as a truly grassroots and community-led festival, placing Cornwall firmly on the map of UK arts and performance.
